And Let 2022 Begin
Ahhhhhhhhh let the goal-setting start. Many unrealistic new years resolutions…lots of excitement and well, a whole lot of unknown.
Looking to this new year I have been thinking a lot about what is to come, what could come. I very quickly came to the conclusion that I just want to focus on the NOW. That does not mean I won’t dream or have goals. All of that will definitely still occur, however, I am going to be intentional about my NOW.
One of the main things I will be doing in order to focus on the NOW is getting into my word consistently. Not just out of convenience. I am going to really remind myself that reading my bible is a simple addition to my day, not an inconvenience to a schedule. To be held accountable I will on occasion post about my reading. If something I read spoke to me, I will share it here and we can chat about it in the comments or on Instagram @generationalspark .
Let 2022 Begin.
Today I read Genesis 1-16 ESV.
Something that really jumped off the page today was actually in Genesis 1. In chapter 1 jump to verses 11 and 12.
11 And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Which got me thinking. God sees it as good when plants yield seeds according to their own kind. Just as a strawberry seed should not yield oranges, we should not attempt to yield the seed and fruit of another person. Do not replicate someone else’s life/journey. It is not pleasing in the sight of our heavenly father. We can all learn from people. HELLO, we literally have the best teacher in Jesus and while we should always aim to be like Jesus our goal should never be to take his place or job. That is not our role. Your role is to truly nurture who God has designed you to be. Be inspired by people, keyword inspired. Allow yourself to still stay true to the perfect design in your life. Rather than replicating someone yield your own seed, plow your field, fertilize your soil, harvest the fruit on your field. It’s crazy how important seed is.
One other verse in chapter 1 that I found so comforting was verse 16.
16 And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.
I thought this was beautiful. God had already intentionally separated the light from the dark. Yet, He still ensures that even the faintest of light can be found in the dark. He is still found even in our darkest days. The verse says it. The greater light yes, rules in the day. However, the lesser light at night. LESSER LIGHT aka still a light!
My prayer for all of us today is that as we enter this new year we first thank God for all that He has done and all that He will do in our lives. Ask that He continue to do a work in us as we grow and learn from our mistakes. Ultimately that we look at our today with intention and our tomorrow with hope. May we all know that there is importance in who God has called and created us to be. I pray we rest in His love. In Jesus name, Amen.
